When it comes to fictional couples, one can pull from as far back as Shakespearean times, when the make-believe lovers out there have been inspiring fans for centuries. For our guest this week, DeAnn Wiley, hers came from the late ‘80s but wasn’t discovered by her until recently in the 21st century. So that’s where I wanted to pull from; the here and now. So let’s get into some of my fictional couple crushes from the 21st century, and no more than a few words about why.
Linda & Bob Belcher, ‘Bob’s Burgers’

Linda and Bob remind me of parents when I was growing up. Those pairs could be going through it, but they always remain on the same team and deliver together.
Cece & Schmidt, ‘New Girl’

Everyone loved Nick and Jess, I will always be a Cece and Schmidt girlie.
Seth & Summer, ‘The O.C.’

My teenage years would not have been the same without these neighbors turned friends turned couple.
Rick & Michonne, ‘The Walking Dead’

To find that level of passion as the world is falling apart? Wild.
Michael & Holly, ‘The Office’

The definition of “match my freak.”
Cam & Mitchell, ‘Modern Family’

Gotta love a dreamer and a realist pairing.
Sam & Maya, ‘Pen15’

When he pulled down the posters calling her the Ugliest Girl In School, I cried for a multitude of reasons, including my inner 12-year-old who often felt like the UGIS in my own school.
Uncle Baby Billy & Tiffany, ‘The Righteous Gemstones’

Watch ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ and you’ll understand.
Darlene & Ben, ‘The Conners’

Darlene Conner will always be the character I lean on, especially seeing her as an adult. A writer who had all the potential in the world, but that same world was ruthless, chewed her up, and spit her out. Then she found someone to struggle through it all with. Love that.
Devi & Ben, ‘Never Have I Ever’

I need Netflix to give us a movie one day to see where Devi and Ben landed once they graduated.
