Comedian Crush: The Ones That Never Fail to Make Me Laugh

This week Rebecca Leppard talked to us not only about her branding business, Upgrading Women, but also her comedian crush – Trevor Noah! She fell in love with the way he handled politics, and fell even harder learning his immigrant story as she experienced that herself after moving from Jakarta to the UK and basically starting from the ground up. A great story, and we shared a lot of laughs – which went well with this week’s theme, right? Now Trevor Noah is a funny man but when it comes to my comedian crushes, he didn’t make my list today, but you know who did? Well, you don’t have to really guess because the answers are literally right below…

Mitch Hedberg

Reasons can be located here

Emily Heller

Saw Emily Heller in, I believe, The Belly Room at The Comedy Store years ago and was smitten right away. Since then I’ve been so proud to watch her career and to see her name in the credits as a writer on of one of my favorites, ‘Barry!’

Katt Williams

There is something hilarious about the way he sweats and moves about the stage that I can’t deny.

Dan Soder

Introduced to him by my guy, Dan Soder is one of those people that is just naturally funny. Which, one could argue that’s all comedians – but let’s be real. Some of them have to force it, while Dan just glides into those jokes. Plus, I feel like if we ever met he’d love me because we had similar trash childhoods.

Janelle James

If you love ‘Abbott Elementary,’ make sure to check Janelle James’ stand up out!

Sebastian Maniscalco

If you walk away from Sebastian Maniscalco and don’t incorporate “aren’t you embarrassed” into your everyday life, you watched him wrong.

Bob the Drag Queen

Another naturally funny person…I’ve loved Bob since ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 8, in which Bob took home the crown. Since then I’ve enjoyed watching not only Bob’s career grow immensely, but also listening weekly to the podcast Bob does with Monet X Change, ‘Sibling Rivalry.’ This is where I get a hell of a lot of weekly laughs.

Tig Notaro

I love Tig Notaro for all of the same reasons I love Jason Bateman; a hot person delivering the most deadpan humor.

Jay Larson

It may’ve been the same night we saw Emily Heller, or perhaps it was another but Jay Larson came out and did a bit about his then father-in-law and ice, and I could not breathe. If you’re ever down, turn on his shit and enjoy yourself.

Matteo Lane

From the YouTube videos to his specials, Matteo Lane just hits the spot every single time I need to laugh when the world feels like it’s crashing down around me.
