Before Crushgasm goes into its cave for the next couple weeks of winter, I need to dish about the 10 things that stood out for me over the past 300-something days! From movies to music to the small screen, I dug a lot this year but only had room for 10. I talked about half of them on this week’s episode, but now it’s time to see all of them in their glory because this is the official 2023 crush list.
Taking Back Sunday’s Viral Backyard Performance
Taking Back Sunday has long since been a favorite of mine and I cannot wait to see them next year in support of their new album, ‘152,’ but before the album dropped – they recorded a video in a backyard. After the video was done, they decided to play a couple of more songs and a clip of that went viral and warmed my heart.
The Bear’s Christmas Episode
Jamie Lee Curtis in this episode is the personification of my anxiety.
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.
There aren’t many books as iconic for young girls as Judy Blume’s ‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,’ and when I heard it was going to be a movie I was LIVING for it. So I rented it one night after it was available and was instantly in love with every aspect of the film. Abby Ryder Fortson was a gem as the titular character, and Rachel McAdams shined as the mother just as confused about her life as her daughter was hers. The perfect mother-daughter watch, as well as a great addition to the coming-of-age genre.
This Is Important Live
I moved to Columbus, OH this year and before we could pack up – we headed here to not only look for a place but also see This Is Important live. For more on why I love them so, listen to this week’s episode.
Ke Huy Quan in Loki
Ke Huy Quan was one of my favorite aspects of 2022 when it came to People Magazine’s Sexiest Man issue, but this year his performance in ‘Loki’ made him land on this list. Honestly, without him – this season may’ve fallen flat because even Tom Hiddleston’s pretty face couldn’t help. Thank goodness for Ke Huy Quan.
N’SYNC on Hot Ones
The best thing N’SYNC did this year was Hot Ones. Facts.
Poker Face
This show is the love child of true crime and ‘House,’ and I was here for it every single week. I cannot wait to see how season two pans out!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Mutant Mayhem
Check out this week’s episode on why this ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle‘ movie was my absolute favorite of the year.
Theater Camp
Another gem of a movie was ‘Theater Camp.’ It was simple, yet so heartfelt. Oh, and actually really freaking hilarious, and also check out Scott Kurland on Jon Reilly’s ‘Life’s But a Song‘ talking about it!
Garth Brooks in Las Vegas

A ticket was bought, travel plans were made, and Garth Brooks closed the night with my favorite song that I sang along to in the audience like it was 2pm at Warped Tour. Best. Night. Ever.
