Crushin on Horror Movies: Network Edition

Once in a while, I like to slide into the DMs of my fellow I Did Not Make These Ranking Podcast Network peeps and get their take on a subject, and this week they’re sharing their favorite horror movies because um, that’s what we’re crushin’ on this week. It actually worked out really well because six of them delivered two favorites and only a couple of movies were repeat favs. So let’s get into it!

Scream

Shana and Amanda, hosts of Crime Rewind, both named ‘Scream’ in their top picks, and I can honestly agree. It took me until 2022 to see it – but it definitely lived up to the hype that surrounds it and I can see why this movie has continued to evolve, and even include a television series at this point.

Thir13en Ghosts

This was a pick from Cam, the Queen of Mass-Debaters, really digs the more ghostly movies. You’ll soon see why.

The Exorcist

Harvey, host of Men Are the P.R.I.Z.E. and cohost of Love is Black, will fight you if you say anything bad about ‘The Exorcist,’ and I don’t blame him. I’ve only seen this movie once, when they re-released it many years ago. I was 13, and my friend and I watched it in our small-town theater near midnight with maybe five other people. Did we ask her mom to turn the lights on for us that night? YUP.

Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

Kasey from An Evening at the Movies and Literature Reapers, both of which he does with Shana and Amanda, adores ‘Nightmare on Elm Street 3,’ and believes Freddie can take Michael Myers. Do you agree? I’m not sure as I don’t think I’ve seen a ‘Nightmare’ movie since my older brother put it on TV to scare me as a child.

It (1990)

Technically a mini-series but most of us just view it as a movie, It revolved around Tim Curry as a clown living in a sewer. Given the year this came out and my mother’s home decor choice being clowns in the early ‘90s, yeah…I did not fucks with this as much as Dre from Mass-Debaters did.

The Strangers

Shana told us on Crushin on Horror Movies how much she loves ‘The Strangers’ because it’s in that realm of horror that could actually happen, and I agree – that genre is creepy as hell!

Ghost Ship

Told y’all, Cam loves her some ghostly tales. This is another one I’ve yet to see, but like – also, that’d be terrifying to be on a boat that’s haunted.

Psycho

Both Kasey and Harvey would be pleased as could be with a showing of the classic, ‘Psycho.’ No surprise, I’ve never seen this movie but I’m very familiar with Norman Bates during the Universal Studios Backlot tour.

Halloween

The Sip List’s Amanda and ‘Halloween’ go together like cookies and cream. If there is one more she’s going to tell you about, it’s this one.

Get Out

Me and Dre 100% agree about ‘Get Out.’ A movie that really just, I could say a lot but check out what I already said here
