Top 10 Songs That Made Millennials Think About Their Middle School Crush

So I’ll start by saying that these songs are for the middle millennials. Not the geriatric or the ones that were born towards the tail end. Although, these songs are such classics that they probably stood the test of time by the time those kids reached junior high. Anyways…I heard one of these songs on the radio recently and thought – 1. How was this a song we sang along to at freaking 12 years old and 2. There are definitely a myriad of songs out there that people my age listened to during those few years of school that made visions of their crush pop into their head. So with no further ado, here are the top songs (at least my picks) of songs that made millennials think of their middle school crushes back in the day, and hey…maybe even still today.

Korn “A.D.I.D.A.S.”

If there is one constant to a middle schooler it is hormonal overload. Puberty is in full force and you want to fucking hump everything in your path. So I would bet this was a song on many burnt CDs back in the day, unlabeled of course because whose parents want to know their kid’s walkman is blasting “All day, I dream about fuckin’?”

Aaliyah “Are You That Somebody?”

Um, have you ever listened to this song? Why the fuck was this one on the ‘Doctor Doolite’ soundtrack?

Blink 182 “All The Small Things”

Way too many 14-year-old boys learned this on their first guitar to impress a girl in low-rise jeans at the school talent show.

Next “Too Close”

Okay, so this was the song I heard the other day because…those lyrics are wild and we really were just sitting there in all our acne singing every lyric like yup, let them get too close to me!

Britney Spears “Dear Diary”

Possibly the greatest musical moment of that era.

Usher “Nice & Slow”

This song is from Usher’s debut ‘My Way,’ and there is absolutely no way it wasn’t one you sang in your bedroom thinking about your middle school crush.

Brandy & Monica “The Boy is Mine”

The song you and your BFF eventually sang at a sleepover when you both realized that you were crushing on the same Backstreet Boy.

Limp Bizkit “Nookie”

We were not getting nookie, but that didn’t stop our dumbasses from singing this like our lives depended on it.

K-Ci & JoJo “All My Life”

If there is one song that owned early ‘00 school dances, this is it.

Sixpence None The Richer “Kiss Me”

It didn’t matter if you were the cool kid like Zack Siler or the weirdo like Laney Boggs, at the end of the day all you wanted from your crush was that kiss.
