From learning the proper way to use scissors to social interaction, everything is so new when you’re a kid. That includes crushes. As mentioned here before, an elementary school crush will help set the foundation for your crush journeys that lay ahead. Whitney Knox Lee shared about how a boy named Kenny helped her be more open about her interests in the long run. While we could go on about the lessons learned from those initial crushes, let’s talk more about the types of crushes we have when we’re in elementary school.
Rebels

Falling for the kid who talks back, never follows the rules, and is a constant disruption in class – oh, those people are in for quite a wild ride if they continue to find that attractive because the rebels – while alluring – are usually nothing but a pain in the behind in the long run.
Popular Kids

Crushing on a popular kid is like being distracted by a shiny quarter on the street; very easy. They’re the most traditionally attractive and are going to be adored by many, so one can’t be shocked when they don’t wind up with them. Popular people have options.
Brainiacs

It’s not common in elementary school for a smart kid to be someone’s crush unless that smart kid also happens to look like JTT.
Athletes

Those who can handle themselves on the playground are usually popular as well so those two go hand in hand. Except that athletes are more than just pretty faces, they have some natural born ability to do sports.
Weirdos

That kid that meows for no reason, the kid that wears a cape to school and thinks nothing of it, the kids who don’t just play Pokemon but think they are Pikachu’s cousin – those are the weird kids – and schools are so much better because of their existence. However, when it comes to crushing, what’s interesting is that weirdos will quickly find others. They’re not a creature that lives in solitude.
Middle of the Roads

The basic Bettys of elementary school. They don’t belong to any one clique. They merely exist, and hey – some people like that simplicity.
Class Clowns

Laughter is a love language like no other, so anyone who can make you chuckle during your education time is golden.
The Wallflowers

The shy kids have a mystery to them that often garners some interest.
Natural Born Leaders

People who wind up attracted to power usually fall for those class president types, the kids with big ASB energy.
Too Cool for School Kids

Unlike rebels, these are the kids who show up to school for the socialization and nothing else.
